How to Identify Thermo King and Carrier Replacement Parts
By SEKOPART · Published
Before requesting a replacement refrigeration part, record the refrigeration unit model, its serial number and the reference marked on the component. Send photographs of both the unit plate and the component. These identify what is fitted more clearly than a description such as “reefer motor” or “water pump”.
This guide helps you prepare a parts enquiry. The model names and references supplied with an enquiry still need to be checked against the item being quoted.
1. Photograph the unit identification plate
Take a readable photograph of the plate and transcribe the unit model and serial number. Identify the unit manufacturer separately from the engine or component manufacturer when they differ.
A vehicle or container description is useful context, but it should accompany the refrigeration unit details. If a component or engine has previously been changed, include that information.
2. Record the component reference exactly
Photograph the complete component and every readable marking. Keep hyphens, spaces and suffixes in your notes. Mark any unreadable characters and send the original photo rather than guessing a complete number.
If you have a reference from old packaging or an invoice, state where it came from. Keep it separate from the number physically marked on the item. A reference can be useful evidence without independently proving compatibility.
3. Add the details relevant to the component
| Component type | Useful information to include |
|---|---|
| Motor or alternator | Marked voltage and rating, connector or terminals, mounting arrangement and reference |
| Pump | Complete reference, engine or unit details, mounting and connection photographs |
| Filter or filter drier | Marked reference, unit application and connection or installation photographs |
| Sensor | Reference, connector close-up and mounting location |
| Belt or seal | Markings and dimensions where they can be recorded reliably, plus the unit or assembly reference |
Measurements help distinguish possibilities, but should not replace a confirmed application reference. Do not infer a voltage, rating or fitment from appearance alone.
4. Describe what is included in the request
State whether you need the component alone or an assembly with accessories. Include the quantity and any required fittings or seals. For several items, number the enquiry lines and use the same number on the corresponding photographs.
Our diesel parts quotation checklist provides a copyable enquiry format that also works for refrigeration components.
5. Confirm the proposed item before ordering
Ask for the proposed reference, item condition, included accessories, availability and delivery estimate. Compare those details with the original item and unit information.
A component name or a similar photograph is not a complete fitment confirmation. If a substitution is offered, ask the supplier to explain which reference and application information supports it.
